APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Benefits
- It's FAST! by filing electronically, refunds are generally received within 10 days.

- Sites are located thoughout Chemung and Steuben Counties.

STEP ONE
Call 2-1-1 Helpline for an appointment*
When you receive your W2s in the mail, dial 2-1-1 to make an appointment. You can also dial 2-1-1 Helpline for an appointment if you need help amending a return or need tax advice.
*Dial 2-1-1 for an appointment. If 2-1-1 Helpline is not available in your area, dial 1-800-346-2211.
STEP TWO
What to bring to your appointment:
q A copy of last year’s return
q Any letter or notice you received from the IRS
q Social Security cards and birth dates for you, your spouse, and children you are claiming
q Picture ID for you and your spouse, if married and filing jointly
q For a faster refund that is directly deposited, bring your savings and/or checking account routing numbers
q ALL forms related to your sources of income:
W-2 forms for jobs held in 2009
Gambling winnings
Unemployment, Social Security, Self Employment, Pension or other 1099 forms
Interest and dividend statements
Jury pay
Any other income
q ALL forms related to potential deductions:
- If you paid for child care- documentation listing provider name, address, tax ID#, amount paid
- If you, your spouse, or a child attended
college- tuition expense statement (1098T) and/or student loan interest statement (1098E)
- Mortgage interest, property taxes paid, and rental information for NYS credit
- Documentation of alimony and child support
- If you are itemizing bring documentation of out-of-pocket expenses for:
- Medical bills
- Charitable contributions
- Mortgage statement
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) credits: First time home buyer, special tax break for new vehicle purchase, residential energy credits

STEP FOUR
Confirm Acceptance
After you meet with a CA$H IRS certified volunteer, it is your responsibility to confirm the acceptance of your return with the IRS and any state return that is filed on your behalf.
Please confirm acceptance of your return 15 - 20 days from the date your return was prepared. You may do this on line or by phone.
To do so, you will need the following information: your social security number, your filing status and the amount of your refund /balance due.
You may reach the IRS by calling Refund Hotline at 1-800-829-1954 or online at www.irs.gov and clicking on the link "where is my refund?"
You can confirm the acceptance of your New York State return by calling 1-800-443-3200 or online at www.tax.state.ny.us and clicking on the "get my refund status" link.
You can confirm the acceptance of your Pennsylvania State return (if filed) by calling 1-888-728-2937 or online www.revenue.state.pa.us and follow the link to "where is my refund?"
Once you have waited the minimum 15 required days and have checked for return confirmation, If you have questions, or you find that your return has not been accepted, please call us at 607-936-3984.
If necessary, once your return has been processed, you can contact the Treasury Retail Securities site at 1-800-245-2804 to inquire about the status of your bonds or check online at www.irs.gov.
