ELMIRA, NY, October 16, 2009 – Community Bank, N.A. sponsored its 6th Annual Trike Race today to benefit United Way of the Southern Tier.
Five teams representing financial institutions in the Elmira region raced each other in the snow and rain on children’s tricycles. The race was close but Elmira Savings Bank held on to their champion’s title. The event was held in Community Bank’s parking lot on Water Street.
The six-member teams raced in relay fashion around cones as they were cheered on by scores of other bank staff and community members. Each team donates $250 to participate and this year over $1,250 was raised for United Way of the Southern Tier’s 2009 Community Campaign. United Way of the Southern Tier will invest the funds in local programs working towards creating lasting changes in the community.
The Elmira Savings Bank team has captured the title each year the trike race has been held. This year they competed against teams from Community Bank, N.A., Chemung Canal Trust Company, Five Star Bank and Corning Credit Union.
