A Facebook post that was widely circulating recently about United Way is not clear. The phone number being shared in the Facebook post sent callers to a direct line for Indiana 211. The special assistance referred to in the post is not available to anyone outside of Indianapolis. 

United Way Worldwide COVID-19 Fund is a national effort being advanced by our parent organization, United Way Worldwide. This effort will provide direct assistance to areas of the country that have the greatest need related to the pandemic.

While United Way of the Southern Tier is a member entity of United Way Worldwide, it is not directly connected to the national response.

If you want to help locally, reach out to your local United Way. 

Donations made to the COVID-19 Unity Response Fund will stay local to support programs in Chemung and Steuben counties on the frontlines of COVID-19. All funds received by United Way of the Southern Tier will be distributed to nonprofits.
