Support United Way and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library on Giving Tuesday
On Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27th, 2018, United Way of the Southern Tier invites residents to give the gift of reading to children in Chemung and Steuben counties.
United Way of the Southern Tier has partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide a free, age-appropriate book once a month to local children until they turn age 5. Already, more than 950 children in our two counties are receiving free books through this program.
On Giving Tuesday -- the Tuesday following Thanksgiving -- the public can help grow the number of children being served by making a donation on United Way of the Southern Tier’s Facebook page or on our website. A gift of $25 will provide a book each month for one year to a child in Chemung County or Steuben County.
Getting books into the hands of children at a young age enhances home literacy and improves kindergarten readiness, which is one of the goals of the United Way’s Southern Tier Kids on Track initiative.
Donations can be made on the United Way of the Southern Tier Facebook page: www.facebook.com/UnitedWaySouthernTier/
Donations can also be made on this website.
To register a Chemung or Steuben county child for the book program, go to our home page and look for the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library logo.
