United Way of the Southern Tier boosts funding to local programs
September 12, 2023:
United Way of the Southern Tier is proud to announce more than $2.7 million will go to 68 local nonprofit programs in 2023-2024, an increase of 10% over the prior year.
More than 6,000 caring people in Chemung and Steuben counties, including individuals, employees of area businesses and corporate partners, gave generously to United Way of the Southern Tier in 2022 to support services for children, senior citizens, and struggling individuals and families. “Our community cares and we see that every day with every gift to United Way,” said United Way of the Southern Tier President & CEO Stephen M. Hughes.
United Way’s total investment in programs for 2023-2024 is $2,764,911; the 2022-2023 investment was $2,509,363.
“Giving to United Way is the most effective and efficient way to impact your community,” said Board Chair David Walker, First Heritage Federal Credit Union Senior Vice President. “Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference for someone, from a child receiving a book to a senior getting a nutritious meal. We are deeply appreciative of every donation.”
