Hundreds to volunteer for United Way of the Southern Tier Day of Action 2019
June 17, 2019:
CORNING – United Way of the Southern Tier will rally 326 volunteers throughout Chemung and Steuben counties on Friday, June 21, for Day of Action 2019, an annual event that mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to make a meaningful impact in our community.
Volunteers will give more than 1,650 hours at 31 projects to assist local non-profits and community organizations. Projects include: planting flowers; repairing raised garden beds; painting; cleaning; sorting donations; working on a children’s trail; helping seniors with a memory box craft, and more.
United Way of the Southern Tier has again partnered with Wegmans Food Markets Inc. for this year’s Day of Action kickoff. All volunteers will meet at either the Corning or Elmira Wegmans at 7:30 a.m. to start the morning with breakfast donated by Wegmans.
While all Day of Action 2019 projects are filled by volunteer teams, if your group or business is interested in volunteering for Day of Action 2020, please contact Kate Andrukat, kandrukat@uwst.org or 607-936-3753, at United Way of the Southern Tier.
